Lately, Human Horizons and China Telecom jointly announced the release of the world’s first 5G vehicle mobile network service, officially opening a new chapter in the commercial application of 5G in the field of autonomous driving. HiPhi 1 will become the world’s first smart car based on the 5G technology.

HiPhi 1 is the first smart car under Human Horizons set for volume production. It is equipped with 5G-V2X communication technology for the first time, equipped with 6 dual redundant systems, consisting of computing, sensing, braking, power, steering and communication. The whole vehicle has 6 “super brain” computing platforms and more than 500 sensors, and is equipped with 1Gbps high-speed Ethernet for the first time. Based on this, HiPhi 1 can achieve single-level L3 autonomous driving, and has space to upgrade to a higher level of autonomous driving based on its outstanding vehicle to the V2X system.

Judging from the current development trend of autonomous vehicles, the commercial landscape of autonomous driving will change dramatically in the next three years. It is reported that HiPhi 1 will be in production in small volumes by the end of this year and will be reach mass production in 2021.
