Both China & South Korea are Determined to Bridge the Barriers of Language & Culture in the 21st Century with Technology & Cooperation
October 20, 2023: China and South Korea are coming closer culturally and the Belt-Road Initiative of President Xi Jinping is playing a vital role in bringing the two Asian countries closer than ever before. The upcoming Belt Road Summit in Beijing along with the Asian Games held in Hangzhou last month are serving as a key strategic bridge to bring the two countries closer. According the to the experts of International Relations, initiatives like this have provided significant momentum to global economic growth and offered valuable opportunities for mutual development among countries.
“Such events have proposed actionable solutions for improving the world’s governance structure and the Chinese language has played a greater role in facilitating communication and economic integration between China and various countries worldwide.” Said Dr. Choi Man-won, an esteemed faculty member at the Department of Political Science and International Relations from the Chosun University in South Korea, while sharing his thoughts on the BRI-related developments. “Before August 24, 1992, when South Korea and China established official diplomatic relations, China was a close but distant country for the South Koreans.” He added. According to the Professor, China’s remarkable economic development and improved diplomatic relations have proven to be a game-changer in China’s standing at the global political arena.
In addition, several international political factors surrounding the Korean Peninsula have also contributed to the development of this bilateral relations between the two countries. Due to the strengthening US-South Korea alliance, the relations between China and South Korea have historically experienced friction. The Korean Peninsula has historically suffered from invasions by neighboring major powers from ancient times to modern times, leading to a perception of these major powers that is not particularly favorable among the Korean people. Despite the odds and hurdles, the two countries have maintained progressive relationships with each other.
People of South Korea have always shown keen interest in learning the Chinese language; however the number of such people has gradually decreased. In a nutshell, it can be said with great confidence that South Korea and China cooperate and engage in exchanges, they can create an environment of peaceful coexistence in the surrounding region, including the Korean Peninsula.
