More than half of the second quarter of 2020 has passed, but the coronavirus pandemic (COVID-19) has yet to recede. However, this has not affected the pace at which major brands launch all- electric models. For example, Toyota has launched the C-HR EV, its first mass-produced all-electric model in China through the GAC-Toyota joint venture this April. Lafesta electric vehicle and Kona electric vehicle are manufactured by Beijing Hyundai, Lafesta electric vehicle has been launched on February 18, Kona electric vehicle has been retailing in the international market for some years, and the new Hyundai Kona is set to also offer fast charging capability in India on July 9, 2019.

These cases illustrate that major vehicle companies have been focusing on the field of all-electric vehicles. However, it is the point that how is the market condition of the all-electric vehicles?

According to all-electric vehicle sales data, in the first quarter of 2020, Tesla sold 88,000 electric vehicles globally, with a market share of 19%. Unfortunately, BMW, Mercedes Benz and Audi have only sold 32,000, 12,000 and 18,000 all-electric vehicles respectively. In other words, Tesla sold more cars than BMW, Mercedes Benz and Audi sales combined.

In China, the situation was hardly optimistic. According to the China automobile association, Audi e-tron has been only sold 282 cars, Mercedes Benz EQC sold 109 cars, Jaguar at 88 cars.

Traditionally renowned brands were hit so hard in the electric vehicle area, does the new brand of HiPhi by Human Horizons can rise amid the competition?

There are three large screens in the HiPhi 1 that are very visible and consist of a 14.6-inch instrument panel, a 16.9-inch central control panel, and the 19.9-inch screen for rear passengers. The capsule design of the cabin adopts a 6-seat configuration. The rear “Commander” seats are equipped with 8-way positioning, leg rests, massage functions, and more.

To deliver “unrivaled levels of comfort” for cars owners, the HiPhi 1 has a pair of rear roof panels that swing upwards to allow easy access to the rear quarters, in a similar fashion to the Tesla Model X‘s Falcon Wing Doors, Human Horizons calls them NT Doors. Cars owners can go in and out of the car in an elegant way. In addition, the HiPhi 1 use three ways to unlock its doors, including phone, key and also facial recognition.

A more important feature concerns the lights —— the car features programmable light-processing headlights that can beam patterns on roads or walls, such as a virtual zebra crossing to show pedestrians that it’s safe to cross the road. The Intelligent Signal Display (ISD) panels below the head and tail lights can also be used to show patterns and messages to other road users.
