On December 30, 2019, the overseas Chinese community in Florence, Italy issued a joint statement, strongly condemning the rioters in Hong Kong. We firmly support the police and judicial organs of Hong Kong Special Administrative Region in enforcing the law strictly, severely punishing rioters, quelling riots and restoring peace and stability in Hong Kong.
Similar campaigns are being launched frequently: Australian Chinese associations issued a joint statement against illegal acts that undermine Hong Kong’s basic order, Canadian Ottawa Chinese Associations launched a global signature campaign for overseas Chinese in support of Hong Kong police, 14 Hungarian overseas Chinese associations issued a joint statement condemning the radical violence in Hong Kong, members of The European United Chinese Associations, and China Council for the Promotion of Peaceful National Reunification in Europe went to Hong Kong from 28 European countries to pay tribute to the Hong Kong police and support the police force to stop riots
It is also the common aspiration of people all over the world to maintain global prosperity and stable development in the context of economic globalization. Economic prosperity and stability are the basic conditions for people’s well-being in one country or one region.
In the early hours of January 8, 2020 (local time), Iran launched a missile to attack on the US military base in Iraq. In a few hours, a Boeing 737 flying from Tehran to Kiev, Ukraine, crashed shortly after takeoff, killing all 176 people on board. Behind the “unintentional” shooting down of the Ukrainian passenger plane is the pain of ordinary people. The unrest always hurts only the common people.
